Deputy sent to hospital after drug arrest
FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)-Also in Franklin County, a sheriff’s deputy needed treatment after arresting a Lawrenceburg man on drug charges.
Deputies arrested 36-year-old Damon Ashlock Friday after visiting his house to serve a civil paper.
They say they smelled marijuana in a car with an open door, and heard someone trying to get rid of something upstairs.
That is where a sergeant found Ashlock. Investigators say he admitted he was flushing weed down a toilet.
Then, according to the sheriff’s office, Ashlock saw the sergeant looking at a bag on the floor.
Ashlock tried to destroy it, but it ripped open when the sergeant tried to grab it.
Just in case the substance inside was deadly, the sergeant went to the hospital for treatment and was released with a full bill of health.
Deputies searched the apartment and found meth, weed, and more than $1,000 in cash.
Ashlock has been charged with trafficking meth and possession of marijuana.
