Deputy fatally shoots fleeing suspect, troopers investigating: KSP

SHEPHERDSVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – Kentucky State Police is investigating a fatal shooting where a Bullitt County Sheriff’s deputy fatally wounded a man who they say crashed into a patrol car and almost running over deputies while trying t flee a scene.

Approximately 12:53 a.m. Sunday Kentucky State Police received a call from the Bullitt County Sheriff’s Office requesting KSP investigate after deputies with their department had been involved in an officer involved shooting.

The preliminary investigation revealed the Bullitt County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a vehicle parked in the middle of the road near 1600 block of Cedar Creek Road near the Jefferson County line, the KSP said.

After deputies arrived, they found the car and while deputies tried to get the person out, the suspect took off, striking a deputy’s cruiser and nearly striking deputies on foot, troopers said in a statement.

A deputy fired his weapon during the incident, hitting the suspect, who was declared dead  at the scene by the Bullitt County Coroner’s Office.

The person was taken to the Kentucky Medical Examiner’s Office in Louisville for an autopsy and identification, the KSP said.

No officers involved in the incident were injured.

KSP was assisted at the scene by Bullitt County Sheriff’s Office, Bullitt County EMS, and the Bullitt County Coroner’s Office. The ongoing investigation is being conducted by KSP’s Critical Incident Response Team.
