Deputies: Woman found passed out in vehicle with children inside

KNOX COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- Knox County deputies say they found a woman passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle, with two small children inside. The sheriff’s office says it happened around 3:00p.m. Wednesday on Highway 11 at Swan Pond.

According to investigators, 25-year-old Melissa Debacher was inside a vehicle, laying over the front console, with the engine running. Deputies say two children, ages 3 and 5, were strapped into car seats.

The sheriff’s office says Debacher is charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Drugs, Two counts of Endangerment the Welfare of a Minor, Three counts of Possession of Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, Prescription Drugs not in Original Container and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Deputies say social services placed the children with a family member.
