Deputies Say Small Children Were Living In Filth In Laurel Co. Home

A Laurel County mother was accused of letting her children live in deplorable conditions.

Deputies said they were called to a home on U.S. 25, south of London, and found Vicki Johnson drunk.

She reportedly told deputies that she had taken hydrocodone and been drinking throughout the day.

Investigators said the home was dirty, full of trash and had cigarette butts scattered throughout the rooms.

According to the sheriff’s office, a six-year-old child was sleeping on a hard box-spring mattress.

Deputies said the child had head lice, and several bottles of pills were in arms reach.

A ten-month-old infant was also in the home.

Investigators said the baby was wearing a soiled diaper that had not been changed in a long period of time.

Deputies also said the child had been drinking clabbered milk.

Johnson was charged with wanton endangerment and criminal abuse.

Social services removed the children from the home.
