Interstate in Franklin Co. back open after cattle truck accident
FRANKLIN COUNTY, (WTVQ) – Officials say I-64 in Franklin County was shut down for hours on Tuesday morning because of an accident.
According to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office all lanes are back open after a crash involving a cattle truck.
Deputies say the accident happened around 5:30 a.m. on I-64 WB at mm 58.
The cattle truck’s axle and then tires caught fire, according to officials.
Authorities say the truck was hauling 86 head of cattle. A veterinarian was on scene and humanely had to put down 4 of the cattle and 82 of them survived, according to the sheriff’s office.
All lanes were opened just before 10 a.m.
