Deputies: Man found passed out in car with marijuana, suspected meth

ARJAY, Ky. (WTVQ) – Deputies checking out a tip on drug activity found their suspect passed out in the driver’s seat of a Ford Taurus, according to the Bell County Sheriff.

Deputies say the tip led them to patrol the areas of White Mountain Road and Chapel Springs Road, during which they found the man at around 8:30 p.m.  Before they woke him up, deputies say they shined a light into the car, and saw a light bulb that appeared to have been tampered with that was filled with a “white residue substance.”  Investigators say they also saw a half of a marijuana cigarette in the man’s lap.

Deputies went on to awaken 42-year-old Rodney Scott Saylor, who they say was demonstrably under the influence.  Further searching of the car uncovered a large amount of marijuana, and a small baggie of suspected methamphetamine hidden in a plastic container from a vending machine.

Saylor was charged with possession and public intoxication.

He was taken to the Bell County Detention Center.
