Deputies make arrest after short foot chase in Laurel Co.

LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Deputies in Laurel Co. they arrested a man on probation violation charges, but had to chase him down to do so.

The Laurel Co. Sheriff says deputies heard that 35-year-old James Smith, wanted for probation violation, was seen walking along US 25, north of London.  They responded to the area, and were able to locate him.

When Smith say the deputies, however, they say he took off running into a field.  Deputies were able to catch him after a short foot chase.  Smith was charged with probation violation, fleeing and evading police, and resisting arrest.

He was taken to the Laurel Co. Detention Center.
