Deputies: 2 juveniles confess to cemetery vandalism in Franklin County

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – Two juveniles have confessed to damaging around 60 headstones in a Franklin County cemetery, according to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say there was extensive damage to headstones at Bethel Cemetery on Owenton Road.

They say the incident happened around 2:00 am Sunday (3/24).

The Sheriff’s Office says they are pursuing charges against the pair. 1st degree Criminal Mischief is a felony, while Desecration of a Venerated Object is a misdemeanor.

Deputies say so far, no arrests have been made, and they have no motive for the destruction.
