Kentucky releases annual school report card; Fayette County shows improvement across all levels, says superintendent
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – The Kentucky Department of Education has released its annual statewide school report card, detailing assessment and accountability results for districts across the Commonwealth — including Fayette County Public Schools.
According to Superintendent Dr. Demetrus Liggins, the district’s more than 42,000 students are outperforming the state in several areas, with improved graduation rates highlighted in this year’s results.
The statewide assessment includes standardized testing in reading, math, science, social studies and writing. Performance levels are color-coded, with green representing a high overall performance rating and yellow indicating medium performance.
“For Fayette County Public Schools, this year we increased in every single level. Elementary, middle and high school. And as you can see we are both yellow for elementary and high school and have moved to green for middle school,” Liggins said.
FCPS will celebrate the results during a press conference at the new Mary E. Britton Middle School on Polo Club Boulevard.
