Denzel Aberdeen and Mouhamed Dioubate on “Why Kentucky?”

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Kentucky transfers Denzel Aberdeen and Mouhamed Dioubate met the media for the first time on Monday afternoon.

Both players have experience playing in the SEC. Aberdeen is coming off of a national championship with the Florida Gators, and Dioubate played two seasons at Alabama before transferring to Kentucky.

Becoming a wildcat seemed like a no brainer for both players.

“Kentucky has always been my dream school as a kid,” said Dioubate. “If I could have came there out of high school I probably would have.”

Dioubate also is eager to take on a leadership role with the wildcats. “The past two years of my college experience I had older guys that would lead us,” he said. “I feel like now I have the opportunity, guys respect me more, I have played in the SEC for two years. I think being a leader is something that this team is going to need.”

Despite coming off of a national title, Aberdeen thinks the best is yet to come with the cats.

“I remember growing up watching Kentucky basketball,” said Aberdeen. “There were lot of great guards that I used to look up to like De’Aaron Fox and Tyler Ulis. Getting them to the next level. That’s always been my goal is getting to the next level.”

Both Dioubate and Aberdeen also expressed gratitude for the love and support they have already received from BBN.
