Democrats blast Bevin’s efforts to revamp Medicaid

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) – Kentucky Democrats wanting to oust Republican Gov. Matt Bevin are criticizing his efforts to impose new Medicaid work requirements for many of those seeking to keep their health benefits.

Bevin suffered a setback when a federal judge once again blocked new rules that would require many of those seeking to stay on Medicaid to get a job, go to school or volunteer.

Rocky Adkins, one of the Democrats running for governor, said Friday evening that Bevin should be focusing on “how we can get more people on health care.” Another Democratic hopeful, Adam Edelen, said Bevin should “give up on his ideologically driven political charade.”

Another Democratic candidate, Andy Beshear, has said he would undo Bevin’s efforts to revamp Medicaid.

The three candidates in the May 21 primary attended a party fundraiser Friday night.
