Deer season begins Saturday
FRANKFORT, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Kentucky’s largest hunting season of the year kicks off this weekend. Modern gun deer season opens Saturday, November 8, and runs through November 23.
Hunters across the state will be heading into the field in pursuit of Kentucky’s plentiful white-tailed deer, providing a sustainable source of wild venison for families. Last year, nearly 150,000 deer were harvested statewide, with modern gun season accounting for most of those numbers.
The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife reminds hunters to double-check licenses, harvest limits, and safety guidelines before heading out. Officials also encourage hunters to use the new Kentucky Deer & Elk app, which helps track public land boundaries, processors, and other hunting tools.
