Death row inmate Thomas Clyde Bowling dies
Thomas Clyde Bowling, the man sentenced to death in 1991 for the 1990 murders of James and Tina Early of Lexington, died Saturday. He was 62.
In addition to his high-profile murder case, Bowling also made headlines for challenging the constitutionality of using lethal injection as a form of execution – a case that made it all the way to the United States Supreme Court.
Bowling had to be moved from death row to a nursing care facility at Kentucky State Reformatory due to cancer-related health complications.
He was taken to Baptist Health in Lagrange Saturday, where he was pronounced dead in the hospital’s emergency room.
