UPDATE: Name released of body found in Cumberland River

UPDATE: ARTEMUS, Ky. (WTVQ)- The State Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort identified the body located in the Cumberland River as 42-year-old Johnny Carnes, of Pineville.

Police say Carnes went missing in the Pineville area on February 6, 2018.

According to the autopsy, no foul play is suspected.

Police Carnes died from an apparent drowning.

This case is still under investigation.

ARTEMUS, Ky. (WTVQ) — State police are conducting a death investigation in Knox County, after a body was found along the Cumberland River in the Artemus community late Thursday.

Police say the body was found by there kayakers.

The body will be sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Officer in Frankfort for an autopsy.

The investigation by KSP Post 10 in Harlan is still ongoing.
