Man charged, victim named in deadly shooting in Clay County
MANCHESTER, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Clay County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a deadly shooting.
According to the arrest citation, 41-year-old Terry Wagers of 735 Rocky Branch Road in Manchester called 911 and said he’d shot someone. He then showed up at the 911 building and turned himself in with the gun.
The victim has been identified as 37-year-old Johnny Lynn Curry, of Crawfish Road, but the sheriff’s department has provided few details of what sparked the dispute or shooting.
The shooting happened at the junction of Highway 149 and South Highway 421 at about 12:30 p.m. Monday afternoon.
He was arrested at about 2:30 p.m., according to the citation.
Assisting at the scene were Clay County Sheriff Patrick Robinson, Chief Deputy Clifton Jones, Manchester City Police Assistant Chief Jason Combs, Clay County Coroner Jared Becknell and Deputy Coroner Joe Crockett.
