UPDATE: Victim identified in fatal Estill County crash

UPDATE: IRVINE, Ky. (WTVQ)- State police have now released the name of the woman killed in the head-on crash in Estill County Wednesday night.

State police say 23-year-old Megan Newsome was traveling east on KY-82 near Twin Creek Road when her car crossed the center line and collided head-on with 60-year-old Brenda Puckett’s car.

The Estill County coroner says Puckett was pronounced dead at the scene.

The coroner also says that Newsome and a juvenile passenger in Puckett’s car were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

KSP says this is an ongoing investigation.

IRVINE, Ky. (WTVQ) – Spout Springs Road in Estill County was closed Wednesday night following a deadly head-on crash, according to State Police.

Investigators say one person was killed and two other people were critically injured in the collision, which happened around 6:30 p.m.

No names were immediately released.

State Police could not estimate when the road would reopen.
