Deadly ATV crash investigation ongoing in Perry County
PEERY COUNTY, KY. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – The Perry County Sheriff’s Office says the investigation into a deadly ATV crash in the Vicco community remains ongoing.
Sheriff’s officials say they have met with John Hansen to discuss possible charges connected to the case.
Investigators say two search warrants have been executed as part of the investigation, including one for a cellphone belonging to a person connected to the case. Authorities say the device will be analyzed as investigators continue reviewing evidence.
Officials say Perry County School District and social services are also conducting independent investigations.
Deputies previously reported they were called to Oakwood Avenue around 9 p.m. Saturday after a crash involving an ATV carrying four people.
Investigators say a 16-year-old girl driving the ATV lost control of the vehicle and went over an embankment.
A passenger, identified as 16-year-old Emilyn Clark, was killed in the crash. Authorities say an adult male riding in the back seat was seriously injured.
Officials believe the teenage driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash and has been charged with DUI.
A GoFundMe page has also been created to help Clark’s family cover funeral expenses.
