Day dedicated to cancer survivors celebrated at Lexington hospital
Kentucky-One Health Cancer Care at Saint Joseph East in Lexington, celebrated its patients who have survived cancer because Sunday was National Cancer Survivors’ Day.
Those attending released balloons in honor of those survivors and a tree was planted in memory of a former cancer patient in the hospital’s memorial garden.
One survivor tells us how she survived cancer, staying positive.
"If you look at the big picture of all the treatments and everything, you have to go to it can be overwhelming, but if you just take it one day at a time, stay positive, and just get through it. it goes by faster than you think," says Diana Koonce.
While Sunday was a national celebration, it’s the hospital’s first annual event.
