Dates set to interview Fayette Schools superintendent candidates
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Fayette County Board of Education has a schedule to narrow the search for a new superintendent and to begin the interview process, according to a release from the school district.
Board members are scheduled to meet June 9 at 1:00 p.m. to get additional information from the firm conducting a national search to identify job candidates. At that meeting, the board is expected to decide which candidates will move forward to the next phase of the process.
The board hopes to interview candidates online on June 10 and June 12, 2015. The tentative plan is to interview the finalists in-person during the week of June 22, 2015, according to the district.
Below is the letter sent out to parents in the district from Board Chairman John Price:
Dear FCPS Families:
Great progress has been made on the superintendent search this week!
After more than 18 hours of meetings – in addition to time spent individually reviewing information on applicants – the screening committee gave your school board team a recommended slate of what appears to be well-qualified candidates who meet or exceed the qualifications in the profile established by our community. Board members are now conducting their own individual reviews of applicant materials and will meet Tuesday, June 9, at 1 p.m. to receive additional information from McNamara Search and decide which candidates we would like to move forward to the next phase of our process.
We hope to interview candidates via internet on Wednesday, June 10 and Friday, June 12, 2015. The finalists from that interview will undergo a thorough process of vetting, including an extensive background investigation, and the board will then determine which individuals we will invite to Lexington for public interviews. Once that decision is made, names of the finalists will be shared with our constituents.
Our tentative plan is to hold interviews with the finalists during the week of June 22. The schedule and format for those interviews has not yet been determined, but we will need lots of community involvement in the process. Look for more information soon.
We are very encouraged to see the high-caliber of the individuals who are interested in becoming the next Fayette County Public Schools Superintendent and remain confident that we will find the right leader to join our team and help us reach each and every student.
Sincerely,
John Price
Fayette County Board of Education Chair
