Mountain Parkway reopens after mud and rockslide in Powell County
SLADE, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – The Mountain Parkway has reopened after a mud and rockslide shut down part of the highway during Sunday’s rain, according to Kentucky State Police.
Troopers said the slide happened Sunday morning in the westbound lanes near mile marker 32 in the Slade area of Powell County. County officials said the slide damaged multiple vehicles and caused major traffic delays for several hours.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s highway department was called in to help clear the roadway, and crews worked throughout the day to reopen the affected lanes.
No serious injuries were reported, and traffic is now moving normally through the area.
