Cyber Monday impacts on local business

Calypso Boutique is staying busy this Cyber Monday attracting people from all over the world, being a big day for many shoppers, especially for people who do a majority of their shopping online.

Lexington, Ky (WTVQ): Calypso Boutique is staying busy this Cyber Monday attracting people from all over the world, being a big day for many shoppers, especially for people who do a majority of their shopping online.

“It’s really nice for us to be able to ship orders and see orders going to Florida, Indiana or Ohio,” said Shelby Hatchett, the co-owner of Calypso Boutique, in Lexington.” So, we’re really lucky in that regard.”

The shop is going on year 17 of business and each year their online presence grows with it.  “Our online store is so important for people who need to purchase something fast before it’s gone,” Hatchett said.

Jenna Danneman says she prefers Cyber Monday to Black Friday shopping. “Especially being a busy college student, sometimes I don’t have time to go in store. So, it’s really nice to utilize it on my laptop and my phone,” she said. “I can just wake up in the morning, sit in my kitchen and go online and scroll and find what I want and order it that way” she said. “I feel like it is quicker and easier I can customize exactly what I want in that moment and not have to search around in the store for it.”

The boutique is offering 25% off the entire website on calypsoboutique.com.

Hatchett now dreams of an expansion of the boutique. “Maybe one day we’ll be able to have our own little online location, a little headquarters so we can really expand and just appeal to even more people,” she said.

If you can’t shop online on Monday, Calypso is located on 513 E Maxwell Street in Lexington.
