Criminal complaint filed in case of abandoned Jessamine Co. dog

NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – A criminal complaint has been filed against a man in connection to an emaciated dog found in Jessamine Co. in July.

On July 29, Jessamine County Animal Care & Control received a complaint regarding a small dog next to some dumpsters at Beauford Place Apartments. A passerby picked the dog up and transported it to the animal shelter, where the staff says tt was immediately apparent that the dog was severely emaciated and a veterinarian was contacted immediately.

Officer Taylor Bourne began an animal cruelty investigation to locate the dog’s owner. After an unsuccessful week of searching for an owner, however, Officer Bourne contacted the ASPCA and asked for their help. On August 10, the ASPCA announced they were offering a reward for information leading to the arrest of the person responsible for the animal’s condition.

Nicholasville police say they immediately began receiving tips about possible owners of the dog, one of which led Officer Bourne to Eugene “Geno” Floyd, of Longview Drive. Officer Bourne says during his interrogation, Floyd confessed to being responsible for the dog’s condition.

Officer Bourne has filed a criminal complaint against Floyd with Jessamine County District Court for animal cruelty in the second degree.
