Crews battle large house fire in Mount Vernon using lake water
Firefighters from multiple departments responded after a loud boom and heavy smoke were reported Sunday
MOUNT VERNON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Fire crews in Mount Vernon responded to a large house fire early Sunday morning.
According to the Mount Vernon Fire Department, crews were called shortly after midnight to the area off Barnett Road following reports of a loud boom and smoke.
As firefighters approached, they said they could see the size of the fire and requested additional tankers from Brodhead, Western Rockcastle, and Brindle Ridge fire departments.
Crews extinguished the flames by shuttling approximately 20,000 gallons of lake water from the boat ramp at the Lake Linville Marina.
No injuries were reported.
