Coroner identifies 78-year-old killed in crash at Man O’ War and Blazer Parkway

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – The Fayette County Coroner has identified a man who died following a crash Tuesday at the busy intersection of Man O’ War Boulevard and Blazer Parkway.

According to the Fayette County Coroner’s Office, 78-year-old Roy Gentry of Clay City died after being involved in the crash.

The coroner’s report says Gentry died at the University of Kentucky Medical Center emergency department Tuesday afternoon. His death was ruled an accident caused by multiple blunt force injuries sustained in the crash.

Earlier in the day, crews with the Lexington Fire Department responded to the crash involving three vehicles at the intersection.

Firefighters had to use specialized equipment to extract two people from their vehicles. Officials say four people in total were taken to the hospital. Earlier reports indicated the injuries were non-life-threatening, but the coroner’s report confirms that one passenger later died from injuries sustained in the collision.

The crash caused major backups at the busy intersection as emergency crews worked the scene. The roadway has since reopened after the vehicles were removed and the area was cleared.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.

UPDATE: The Lexington Fire Department says the crash involved three vehicles. Two people had to be extracted from their vehicles. A total of four patients were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Emergency crews are working a crash with entrapment at the busy intersection of Man O’ War Boulevard and Blazer Parkway.

Firefighters used specialized equipment to free a person trapped inside one of the vehicles involved.

The intersection is a heavily traveled area, and traffic is backed up as crews work to clear the scene.

Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area if possible and expect delays.

The extent of injuries has not yet been released.
