Crash Sends 6 To Area Hospitals

Six people were taken to area hospitals after a serious crash on Russell Cave Road in Lexington, police said.

Fire crews and police were called to the two vehicle crash on Russell Cave Road near the RJ Corman Railroad, around 1:30 p.m.

When fire crews arrived on the scene, they found multiple people entrapped and quickly requested more ambulances and crews to respond, fire officials tell ABC 36 News. A total of four ambulances were called to respond.

The fire department said five people were in the black car and one person was in the red car. Crews had to use the jaws of life to remove the victims.

According to the fire department, two people are in critical condition.

Lexington Police has called out their crash reconstruction unit and expects the roadway to be shut down for hours, police said.
