Crash in Lexington leads to power outage, DUI arrest

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) — A driver has been arrested and charged with DUI following a crash Monday night that caused a power outage in Lexington.

According to the Lexington Police Department, officers responded to a call around 11:30 p.m. reporting a vehicle that crashed into a utility pole on Man O’ War Boulevard near Winchester Road, just outside the ABC 36 station.

Authorities say the driver was uninjured, but the impact caused the telephone pole to fall onto the SUV. The crash resulted in a power outage in the area that lasted approximately five hours. Crews from Kentucky Utilities worked through the night, and power has since been fully restored.

The driver, whose name has not been released, was arrested at the scene and charged with DUI. No additional injuries or damages were reported. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
