UPDATE: Crash closes entrance to Buc-ee’s, traffic lights out in Richmond area, coroner confirms fatality

UPDATE: 4:30 p.m.

RICHMOND, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Richmond police are investigating a serious crash that happened Wednesday afternoon near Buc-ee’s off Interstate 75.

The collision occurred around 2 p.m. on Duncannon Lane in front of Buc-ee’s and involved a motorcycle and another vehicle. The Madison County coroner was called to the scene and  confirmed the death of the motorcycle operator. That person’s name has not been released.

The Richmond Police Department’s collision reconstruction team is on scene. Officials say there is no timeline yet for when the roadway will reopen.

Drivers are urged to avoid the area or use caution while traffic remains impacted.

RICHMOND, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – A collision near the entrance to Buc-ee’s in Richmond has shut down roadways and knocked out traffic signals as first responders work the scene.

Officials say motorists leaving the interstate cannot currently travel toward Buc-ee’s. Drivers are urged to avoid the area or use extreme caution if traveling nearby.

Crews remain on scene as the roadway is cleared.
