Crash Causes Gas Leak In Georgetown
A driver missed a curve and struck a gasline in Scott County early Tuesday morning.
The Scott County Sheriff’s Department said the driver was speeding on U.S. 25 in Georgetown when he missed a curve, went off the road and slammed into a rock fence.
A gasline running along the fence was hit and ruptured, causing a gas leak.
A deputy on his way home came across the accident and immediately called the Emergency Management Agency to see if they needed to evacuate the neighborhood.
Officials determined the gas levels weren’t high enough to prompt an evacuation.
Crews were able to get the gas shut off.
The driver, along with his three passengers, suffered minor injuries in the accident.
No word yet on whether the driver will be charged.
