Covington celebrating bicentennial
COVINGTON, Ky. (AP) — Covington is going all out for its bicentennial.
The Kentucky Enquirer (http://cin.ci/1AUD2wW) reports the city plans celebrations throughout 2015 that include galas, gatherings, dedications and public works projects.
Some in the community have set a goal of reaching 100 million eyeballs, or 50 million people, through various means by the end of the year. They want people to read, watch, tweet, share or hashtag something related to the northern Kentucky city.
Normand Desmarais, a resident and one of the co-chairs of the COV200 committee planning the bicentennial, said they had reached 3 million eyeballs before the end of 2014 based on news stories and social media.
Along with community events, COV200 is working with schools on educational events for students.
