COVID outbreak in Perry County church
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – More businesses can open today, including large day care centers at decreased capacity, as coronavirus restrictions continue to be eased as the economy reopens.
That comes even as the number of cases continues to be up slightly, an increase officials attribute in part to increased testing and not necessarily a new surge.
On Saturday, June 13, 2020 – no new numbers were released Sunday — 315 new cases were reported, bringing Kentucky’s total to 12,445 positive cases.
Two new deaths were reported Saturday. The state’s death toll is now 499.
Multiple COVID-19 cases are linked to a Perry County church. The River District Health Department advises if someone attended Trinity Holiness Tabernacle Church from May 24 through June 7, they were potentially exposed to COVID-19 and should monitor for symptoms.
The department says in the seven-county area it covers has seen 50 cases with 40 patients having recovered.
Childcare centers can re-open Monday. Some camps and low-touch youth sports can also start up. In-home child care was allowed to open last Monday.
