Couple found dead in Letcher County home

ISOM, Ky. (WTVQ) – A husband and wife were discovered shot to death at their home Monday night in Letcher County.

Kentucky State Police say troopers were called to the home on Highway 15 in the Isom community around 8:25 p.m. after family members found the bodies inside a garage.

The Letcher County coroner says 61-year-old Dempsey Cole and 55-year-old Tonya Cole both died of apparent gunshot wounds.

The case is being investigated as a murder-suicide, according to state police.

Autopsies are scheduled to be performed on both victims at the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort.
