Coroner says deaths result of suicide gone wrong
HARRODSBURG, Ky. (AP) — A central Kentucky coroner says there’s a new theory about how a Mercer County couple ended up dead in their home.
Investigators originally though the deaths of Bruce and Glenda Noel were a murder-suicide. Mercer County Coroner Sonny Ransdell told the Advocate-Messenger that officials now think the woman’s death was accidental.
The change comes after authorities talked with relatives and reviewed evidence in the case. Ransdell says the current theory is that Glenda Noel found her husband in the midst of a suicide attempt, tried to stop him and was struck by a bullet during a struggle.
The couple’s niece found them in their bedroom after going to check on them when a phone call ended abruptly.
Family members said Bruce Noel suffered from depression.
