Coroner: Driver’s blood alcohol level 4 times legal limit in deadly I-75 crash
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Fayette County Coroner’s Office says a driver who was going the wrong way on I-75 and hit an SUV with a family inside had a blood alcohol level four times the legal limit at the time of the crash.
The January 6 crash near mile marker 113 in Fayette County killed that driver, 41-year-old Joey Bailey, and five members of the Abbas family, who were in the SUV.
According to police, 42-year-old Issam Abbas, 38-year-old Rima Abbas, and their three children, 14-year-old Ali, 13-year-old Isabella, and 7-year-old Giselle, died after their SUV caught fire in the crash.
The family was traveling back to their home state of Michigan after vacationing in Florida.
