Coroner: 42-year-old Lexington man found deceased in Lake Cumberland Sunday morning

RUSSELL COUNTY, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW via LEX NEWS) — The body of a 42-year-old Lexington man was discovered in Lake Cumberland around 9:45 a.m. Sunday by the Russell County Search & Rescue team, according to Russell County Coroner Mark Coots.
According to Coots, Andy W. Schmidt’s cause of death was due to drowning, although toxicology results are pending. A preliminary investigation determines Schmidt was camping in the area with friends before the drowning incident.
Schmidt was pronounced dead on-scene at 10 a.m. Sunday by the Russell County Coroner’s Office. At this time, no foul play is suspected in his death.
