Corbin Man arrested after domestic violence incident in Laurel County

LAUREL COUNTY, KY. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – A Corbin man was arrested late Thursday night following a reported domestic violence incident in southern Laurel County.

According to the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched around 11:45 p.m. on January 1 to Lynnwood Road for a report of a physical domestic violence complaint. While en route, deputies learned that Kentucky State Police and Corbin Police had also responded to the scene, but the suspect had already fled before officers arrived.

Deputies canvassed the surrounding area and later located the suspect hiding behind a residence off American Greeting Card Road.

Following an investigation, deputies determined the suspect allegedly choked a female victim during the incident.

James Vincent Felts, 38, of Corbin, was arrested and charged with fourth-degree assault, second-degree strangulation, and third-degree fleeing or evading police.

Felts was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.

The investigation remains ongoing.
