Construction workers injured in fall at MSU

MOREHEAD, Ky. (WTVQ) – Two construction workers were injured Tuesday morning, one of them seriously, after falling from scaffolding while working on the 4th floor of a dormitory building on the Morehead State campus, according to the school.
MSU says the workers were laying brick at the new Wayne D. And Susan H. Andrews Hall when a board broke, causing one worker to fall approximately 35-feet to the ground.

The Morehead News identified the man as Brandon Tharp, an employee of H-B Masonry of Richmond.

He was airlifted to UK Hospital in Lexington where he was listed in critical condition, according to the newspaper.

Co-worker Rebecca Hanning, with H-B Masonry, was standing with Tharp on the scaffolding when the board gave way, according to the published report. The paper reports Hanning fell on the scaffolding and suffered minor injuries. She was treated at the hospital in Morehead.

The accident is under investigation.
