(ABC36 NEWS NOW) — U.S. Rep. Andy Barr announced the death of his longtime aide Tatum Dale, describing her as the “heart and soul” of his team for more than 15 years.

In a statement, Barr said Dale served in numerous roles during her career, including scheduler, field representative, district director, deputy chief of staff, and campaign manager for his U.S. Senate run. A native of Murray, Dale attended the University of Kentucky and remained in Central Kentucky to work in public service.

Barr credited Dale with helping close thousands of constituent cases, assisting veterans, seniors and families across the 6th District, and helping secure funding for community projects throughout the state.

“She loved helping people and was a servant of others,” Barr said, adding that her work made him a better congressman and the staff better public servants.

Barr asked the public to keep Dale’s family and friends in their prayers, saying her impact was felt from Murray to Lexington and across the Commonwealth.
