Concert-goers discuss traffic tie up before & after Luke Bryan concert
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Luke Bryan fans say they had trouble getting in and trouble getting out of the Talon Winery, where Bryan’s ‘Farm Tour’ was held. An estimated 14,000 vehicles were bumper to bumper on Tates Creek Road, a two-lane rural road.
Dustin Hensley said, “it’s very bottle-necked at Talon Winery. There’s only one way to get out and you have 12 different roads that are trying to merge together into one exit.”
At one point, Luke Bryan tweeted about the traffic and said the concert wouldn’t start until everyone had arrived. Some people said it took up to four hours to get to the venue to see the country music superstar and many waited even longer to get back out.
“It was a great time, but it was not worth the wait,” said Elizabeth Blithe. “That took up all of our gas. We didn’t think it would be that bad.”
During that wait, Blithe and several other concert-goers ran out of gas and decided to walk home. They headed down Tates Creek Road where there is no pedestrian path.
Dustin Hensley added, “safety is a concern, but getting home is better than waiting.”
Some concert-goers told ABC 36 they planned to sleep in their cars and wait until the traffic cleared before attempted to leave the winery.
Others say they experienced the inconvenience of their cars getting stuck in the mud, the same problem that forced Bryan to postpone the concert last week. There was a tow truck on hand at the winery to get the cars out.
Despite traffic issues many fans say they enjoyed the show.
