Community remembers trooper killed in crash

LAWRENCEBURG, Ky. (WTVQ) – There are heavy hearts in Anderson county as people learned of the death of a Kentucky State Trooper from that area.

State police say Trooper Eric Chrisman was killed in the line of dust Tuesday night after a crash in Western Kentucky.

Troopers say Chrisman, 23, was driving down the highway, looking into a reckless driving complaint when his cruiser went into the other lane around a curve and was hit by a tractor-trailer.

They say it happened around six o’clock Tuesday night central time on US 62 near Grand Rivers in Livingston County.

The coroner says Chrisman died before he could make it to the hospital.

Those who knew Chrisman say he always wanted to be a police officer.

According to his obituary, he graduated from KSP Academy this past January, and was assigned to Pos #1 in Mayfield, Ky. He attended Western KY University, receiving a degree in Sociology and minors in Criminal Justice and Psychology.

“You couldn’t help but see the joy in his life, he was always smiling, always positive and no matter what the circumstance,” said Cory Robinson who was a coach, mentor a friend to Chrisman.

Funeral Services will begin 11 a.m. Monday, June 29, at Ninevah Christian Church in Lawrenceburg (1195 Ninevah Rd).

After the service, his burial will be will full KSP honors.

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. that same day, at the church.
