SOMERSET, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) — The community is remembering a teenager and two of her family members who died in a house fire Tuesday in Somerset.

The fire department says it happened just before 2 a.m. on Parkers Mill Road killing 78-year-old Norma Putteet, her 55-year-old son Jerry Putteet and her granddaughter 17-year-old Brilee Putteet.

According to firefighters, a dog and nine puppies were rescued. Norma Putteet’s 3-year-old son Brian Lee Putteet escaped. He is now being treated at the burn center at UofL Hospital.

Officials say 17-year-old Brilee Putteet was a student at Southwestern High School and once played for the school’s softball team.

According to the school, Brilee was loved by all.

Officials say grief counseling services are now available for students and staff.

On Facebook, the school’s softball team says, “we are heartbroken to share the passing of a former teammate.”
