Community holds annual East End Family Reunion
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The weather didn’t seem to get in the way of the 15th annual East End Family Reunion in Lexington. It’s a weekend long celebration highlighting the families and history on Lexington’s east side.
The celebration took place right near the site of several shootings in the last couple years.
Local hip-hop artist Devine Carama thinks gatherings like the reunion improve the community.
“A lot of times neighborhoods like this get bad stipulations and think it’s all about violence, and I think events like this highlight that there’s so much more to these people and their community,” said Carama.
The celebration continues Sunday with a gospel festival from 4 p.m. outside the Charles Young Center.
