Comer hires new campaign manager

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — Kentucky Republican gubernatorial candidate James Comer has hired a new campaign director.

Comer announced in an email Friday night that Edwin King will be campaign director and spokesman for the campaign beginning Jan. 5.

He will replace senior strategist Holly Harris-Von Luehrte in leading day-to-day operations. WHAS-TV said she cited family commitments in stepping down from the post.

King has been field representative for U.S. Sen. Rand Paul and previously was a legislative staff member for U.S. Sen. Jim Bunning.

He has also worked on other campaigns and was campaign manager for state Sen. Chris McDaniel, Comer’s running mate, during the 2012 primary.
