Coach Stoops: game ball will go to Shemwell family
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- Coach Mark Stoops says he will give the game ball from Saturday night’s surprising, awe-inspiring UK win.
Last week, during the game, four-year-old Marco Shemwell was waiting to cross Cooper Drive with his dad when a freshman accused of driving drunk reportedly hit him.
Head Coach Mark Stoops and some of his players will serve as honorary pallbearers tomorrow at his funeral.
“We’re gonna bring this game ball to them tomorrow for Marco and the Shemwell family and i’m so glad that we played well in honor of him and that family,” Stoops said.
Before Saturday’s game, there was a moment of silence at Kroger Field in Shemwell’s memory plus we know the man who had everyone’s attention, Benny Snell, wore the words “R.I.P.” on his wrist tape during the game.
