Closure of US 460 in Morgan County rescheduled to September

MORGAN COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – Inclement weather has forced delay of a bridge repair project requiring a temporary closure of US 460 in southeastern Morgan County, near the Magoffin County line.

The rescheduled closure date is Sept. 13, 2021. The project site is the bridge crossing Big Spring Branch at milepoint 27.48. Once in effect, the closure would be for two weeks, affecting travel between West Liberty and Salyersville.

The project is part of the Bridging Kentucky program.

The existing bridge was built in 1930, is used by approximately 1,100 vehicles per day but it is classified as structurally deficient.

Bridging Kentucky is a program to improve the safety and soundness of the Commonwealth’s bridges by rehabilitating, repairing, or replacing critical bridges throughout the state. More information on Bridging Kentucky is available at http://www.bridgingkentucky.com.
