Clark Energy Crews Return To Winchester After Restoring Power In South Carolilna
The restoration team consisted of Richard Steele, Sam Adams, Raymond Turner, William Merritt, Barney Toy and David Dennis.
When the crew arrived in Bamberg, South Carolina, 16,000 of Edisto Electric Cooperative’s 19,000 customers were without power.
The team worked 16-hour days in rural areas of Barnwell and Allendale counties.
The area had pine or fruit tree farms, cotton or watermelon fields and swamp land.
After the ice storm moved through, temperatures ranged from 30-to-82 degrees, with little rain, which aided in the restoration efforts.
The crew had to cut most of their own right-of-way.
The team reported that they were greeted with many hugs, handshakes and a lot of "God Bless You."
The crew also said southern hospitality and southern cooking is alive and well in South Carolina.
Clark Energy is headquartered in Winchester. It is a not-for-profit, member-owned Touchstone Energy Cooperative that supplies electric energy to more than 25,000 sites in 11 east central Kentucky counties.
