Clark County Votes To Comply With School Reorganization
The Clark County School Board voted Tuesday to go ahead with a plan to reorganize its schools.
In 2007, the school board agreed to build a new high school, use the old high school as a middle school and build new elementary schools.
Some parents and board members were opposed to the plan and the board voted to delay parts of it.
Last week Education Commissioner Terry Holliday wrote the board and said the state had already spent millions on the plan and the county had to see it through or risk losing funds.
At a special meeting on Tuesday night, the board voted to comply.
However, the board voted to spend about $8 million to renovate George Rogers Clark High School instead of the $16 million that was previously agreed.
The state has not responded to that decision.
