George Rogers Clark High School student hit and killed by school bus identified
UPDATE #2: The student hit by the school bus is identified as 15-year-old McKenna Letcher of Winchester.
Coroner Neal Oliver says McKenna was hit by the Clark County school bus while apparently trying to cross Veterans Memorial Parkway near the intersection of Ironworks Road.
The accident is being investigated by the Clark County Sheriff’s Office and the Clark County Coroner’s Office.

UPDATE: The Clark County Coroner confirmed to ABC36 News Now that the student hit and killed was a 15-year old girl.

WINCHESTER, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – The Clark County Public Schools community is mourning the loss of a George Rogers Clark High School student who was tragically killed in an accident involving a school bus this morning.
According to a statement released by Superintendent Dustin Howard, the incident occurred at the intersection of Ironworks Road and Veterans Memorial Parkway. The student, whose name has not been released, was a pedestrian at the time of the accident.
Superintendent Howard expressed the district’s profound sadness, stating, “The Clark County Public Schools family is heartbroken today.”
In response to the tragedy, the district has made a team of pastoral staff, grief counselors, and other mental health support available at George Rogers Clark High School and all other schools within the district. These resources will be available for as long as needed.
Superintendent Howard also asked the community to keep the student’s family and the entire school system in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
