Clark County Schools announces mask recommendation, other precautions

WINCHESTER, Ky. (WTVQ) – As schools face the growing number of COVID-19 cases and questions about how to maintain in-person learning, Clark County Public Schools has released its Back to School Plan for the 2021-2022 school year.

The plan recommends masks in school buildings, but only requires them at the district’s Area Technolgy Center and on buses. When possible, social distancing of three feet will be enforced. Students will be brought breakfast to their classrooms and traditional lunch will still be eaten in the cafeteria.

Regarding screening protocols, anyone with a temperature over 100.6 will be sent home, symptomatic students will be isolated from others and parents will be asked to conduct daily temperature and symptom checks.

Surfaces will still be sanitized frequently, handwashing will be reinforced and students will be expected to use hand sanitizer as they enter and leave classrooms.

“Our leaders have worked diligently this summer preparing buildings and working with their teams to ensure we have a successful year,” shared Superintendent Dr. Molly McComas in a letter released in preparation for the new school year. “Thank you for your support and encouragement as we partner together to walk our young men and women into GREATNESS.”
