Clark County man to be sentenced in shooting death
WINCHESTER, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – A Winchester man accused of killing a woman back in 2021 is set to be sentenced Thursday morning.
Police say 39-year-old Steven McGuire admitted to shooting 34-year-old Sheila Smith inside an apartment building on North Main Street in Winchester.
Officers found Smith in the hallway with a single gunshot wound. She was taken to Clark Regional Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.
McGuire was arrested at the scene and charged with murder. Authorities say the two knew each other, but there was no indication of a prior relationship.
McGuire is scheduled to be sentenced at 11:15 a.m. today in Clark County Court.
