Clark County man pleads not guilty in assault case
WINCHESTER, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — A man accused in a weekend stabbing in Clark County is facing an assault charge after appearing in court this week.
According to the Clark County Courthouse, 37-year-old Jon Southern entered a not guilty plea to the charge of assault. A judge also appointed him a public defender as the case moves forward.
Southern was arrested Sunday night near the Clark County Health Department in Winchester. Police say his arrest followed a stabbing the day before, when officers found a 35-year-old man with life-threatening injuries near Jackson and Jefferson Streets. The victim was taken to UK Hospital in critical condition.
Southern remains in custody.
